Using rhythms can open SO MANY possibilities in music.

Learning simple rhythms can give you a lot to work with when you’re trying to add more tension or emotion to any chord progression.

Even something as simple as experimenting with slow whole notes or faster eighth notes can give your music more character and emotion.

I love using this when I practice my chord progressions because it makes it so much more fun to practice when you’re feeling unmotivated and bored. Rhythms can WAKE YOU UP!

Take a quick look:

– The chord progression – 0:30
– The right hand – 0:51
– The first rhythm – 1:21
– Adding in half notes – 1:42
– Speeding it up – 2:00
– Even faster (8th notes) – 2:14
– Full play-through – 3:05

All of these rhythms are super easy to play. I love the eighth notes because it adds so much tension to the music! Imagine if you went even faster (how long could you keep playing them?)!

I’m really interested to hear how your practice is going, so leave a comment or send me a video of you playing, I’d love to see it!
